Background: Physical exercise has been lengthy recognized for its therapeutic results on depressive disorders, but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. In the study, we investigated whether the physical train by voluntary wheel operating (VWR) alters depression-like behaviors and its affect on brain Blood Vitals oxygen level-dependent (Bold) alerts in mice. Ex. The differences in purposeful mind modifications had been determined by Bold functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Results: The results confirmed that VWR exercise significantly reversed the CUMS-induced behavioral abnormalities. Base on the fMRI amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) evaluation, we found that VWR train may restore the CUMS-induced excessive Bold activation in components of limbic system, corresponding to cortex, hippocampus and corpus callosum. Furthermore, CUMS-induced Bold suppressive areas have been also partially attenuated by VWR train, reminiscent of amygdala, cerebellum anterior lobe, thalamus, midbrain, and pontine. Most of those regions are concerned in temper-regulating circuit, suggesting dysfunction of the circuit in CUMS model of depression, and VWR exercise could modify the temper-regulating circuit.
